Elaine Linden was Paul’s wife and the foundation of their family. She studied at the University of Missouri and William Jewell College, and worked as a registered nurse, caring for patients across the Midwest — in Missouri — and in Texas.

Through Paul’s unusually demanding career of engineering work, startups, inventions, installations, and constant travel, Elaine was the steady center that made all of it possible — raising their two sons while keeping the family whole.

There is a small, characteristic detail that says a great deal about Paul: his most important patent, U.S. 5,136,426, was issued on August 4, 1992 — Elaine’s birthday. Paul is proud of the coincidence and likes to point it out — a reminder that behind the machines and the milestones is a family life he cares about deeply.

Paul and Elaine raised two sons, John and David.
